No event is too small or too infrequent for SwingMeOut.com. The site lists local swing dancing classes, workshops, festivals, exchanges, retreats, camps, competitions, social dances, practice sessions, and – as long as there is a defined place to swing dance – gigs, concerts and performances.

There are, of course, some limits.

SwingMeOut.com lists classes and events for dance styles and rhythms at the core and the inner edge of the Harlem Renaissance – typically blues, Charleston, breakaway, Lindy hop, jitterbug, jive (not modern jive), East Coast swing (not West Coast swing), balboa, boogie woogie, collegiate and St Louis shag (not Carolina shag). There’s a small degree of flexibility, but not much.

If you’re unsure if your event fits, here’s the simple rule of thumb:

It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.

As long as the event appeals to and has a defined place for swing dancers to dance, it can be listed on SwingMeOut.com.

If it is not clear to SwingMeOut.com’s site operator how an event appeals to or welcomes swing dancers, then it will be removed at their absolute discretion. We will miss events, we’ll make mistakes and we’ll post irrelevant events. Sorry. But let us know and with your help, we’ll try to put things right.

We want to keep the site simple, easy and fun for all.
